1. Scope
This Privacy Policy applies to the Playli mobile app (“App”) and the Playli website (“Site”).
2. Controller
The responsible entity is our company in Switzerland. For details, please see our Legal Notice.
3. Data We Collect
Website: We do not use cookies, analytics platforms, tracking pixels, external fonts or external scripts. We do not store IP addresses, device identifiers or any information that can identify individual visitors.
For security and anonymous usage statistics we record non-identifiable technical information such as the accessed domain or subdomain, the requested page path, general browser, device and operating system categories, the time of access, and (if available) the referring domain (e.g. “youtube.com”). Full referrer URLs or query parameters are never stored.
We also process the browser’s Accept-Language header solely to derive a non-identifiable language code (e.g. “de”, “en”) and an approximate region code (e.g. “DE”, “US”). The raw header is not stored. All recorded information is anonymous and cannot be linked to individual users.
Links to the Apple App Store or Google Play Store are external; their own terms and privacy policies apply once you follow those links.
App:We store your Apple or Google account ID, the e-mail address associated with that account, and the IDs of your lists. This data is required to create and maintain your account, verify your subscription, and allow you to sync lists across devices. We do not collect additional personal details such as your name, postal address, or payment information. Subscription payments are handled directly by Apple and Google.
App Stores: Subscriptions, billing and refunds are handled by Apple App Store or Google Play Store under their terms. We do not receive your payment data.
4. Purpose and Legal Basis
We process your data to provide the Service (contract performance, GDPR Art. 6(1)(b)), and to ensure security and stability of our systems (legitimate interests, GDPR Art. 6(1)(f)).
5. Retention
Account data (Apple/Google ID, list IDs) is stored as long as your subscription is active. If you delete your account in the App, we delete this data permanently. Server logs are retained only briefly for security purposes.
6. Account Deletion
You can delete your Playli account at any time directly within the App. This is the only way to remove your data. When you delete your account, all data we store (Apple/Google account ID, associated e-mail address, and list IDs) is permanently removed from our servers. There is no alternative manual process by contacting us.
7. Third Parties and Processors
We use Amazon Web Services (AWS) to operate the app backend. This includes services such as Amazon EC2 (servers and compute resources), Amazon S3 (file and object storage), and Amazon RDS (databases). Data required for your account (Apple/Google user ID and list IDs) is processed and stored using these services. AWS acts as our processor under a data processing agreement and processes data only on our instructions.
Where possible, we use AWS regions within the European Union/EEA. If data is transferred outside the EU/EEA, AWS provides appropriate safeguards under the EU Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) to ensure an adequate level of data protection.
We use the third-party providers RevenueCat (for managing in-app purchases and subscriptions) and Firebase by Google (for analytics and app performance monitoring). These providers may process technical identifiers, purchase information, and usage data for the purposes stated. The processing is based on Art. 6(1)(b) and/or Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR. Data may be transferred to the United States under the EU Standard Contractual Clauses. For details, please refer to the privacy policies of RevenueCat and Google Firebase.
Subscriptions and billing are handled by Apple (Apple Inc.) and Google (Google LLC). We do not receive your payment details; we only receive subscription status information (such as active or expired). For billing and refunds, the terms and privacy policies of Apple and Google apply.
8. Security
We take appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your data, including access controls and encryption in transit.
9. Your Rights
Under applicable law, you have the right to request access, rectification, deletion, restriction, data portability, and to object to processing. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.
If you exercise your rights under data protection law (such as requesting access, correction, or deletion of your data), we will respond without undue delay and in any case within one month of receiving your request. In complex cases this period may be extended by up to two further months; if that happens, we will inform you of the reasons for the delay. For general support requests that are not related to privacy or data protection, we aim to respond within a few business days, but there is no legally defined response time.
10. Automated Decisions and Profiling
We do not use automated decision-making or profiling.
11. Children
Playli is not directed at children under the age of 13. If you are under 13, or under the applicable age of digital consent in your country, you may not use Playli. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under this age.
12. Changes
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The latest version will always be published here with the “Last updated” date.
